Made macht Shopping relevant. Denn trotz weit verbreiteter Überzeugung ist haufenweise Geld für Mode und Schmuck auszugeben selten wirklich nötig. Schon allein weil die Ausbeute oft völlig missachtet in den Tiefen der Schränke und Kommoden verschwindet. Der Reiz des begehrten Stücks ist nach der Bezahlung nicht mehr der selbe. Doch was wenn wir wissen, dass unser Kauf einen anderen, höheren Wert als den des Preises hat?

 Made ist ein Unternehmen, dass Accessoires verkauft, die in Nairobi hergestellt werden und kurbelt damit die dortige Wirtschaft an. Die rund 100 Mitarbeiter verdienen einen fairen Lohn, der ihnen auf ihr eigenes Konto eingezahlt wird. Außerdem bekommen sie Wohn- und Reisezuschüsse, eine warme Mahlzeit am Tag und arbeiten in einer sicheren Arbeitsatmosphäre mit gleichen Aufstiegschancen. Getreu dem Leitmotiv: Trade not aid! Made beschreibt sich selbst in erster Linie als Modelabel, dessen Fokus jedoch darauf liegt, den Handel in Afrika zu unterstützen und zu verbessern. Aus diesem Grund wurde Made Africa gegründet. Die Organisation arbeitet eng mit den Einheimischen zusammen und kooperiert darüber hinaus mit anderen NGOs. Made Africa organisiert Bildungsinitiativen für die Menschen aus benachteiligten Regionen. Durch Workshops soll zum einen Bildung, zum anderen eine berufliche Basis für die Einwohner geschaffen werden. Aktuell arbeitet die Organisation ebenfalls in Nairobi. Wer helfen will, kauft in der Made Africa Shopping-Sektion ein. Alle Erlöse gehen an die Organisation. Leider gibt es in dieser Sparte nur drei Stücke. Die anderen Kollektionen sind jedoch umfangreicher.

Espacially since your bargains and hauls often land directly and unregarded in the black holes that are your closets and dressers. The allure of a new piece isn't the same anymore once you bought it. Made is a company that sells accessoiries manufactured in Nairobi, Kenya and thus contributes to its economy. Their employees receive a fair salary deposited into their own accounts. The workers get housing- and travel allowances and a hot meal per day. Furthermore, they work in an athmosphere that provides equal opportunities. Pursuing the guideline of "Trade not aid!" the company describes itself first and foremost as a fashion label - with a focus on contributing to the improvement of African trade. That goal in mind Made Africa was founded. The organization works closely with the locals and other NGO's. Made Africa concentrates on providing educational intitiatives in deprived areas. Their workshops should do both, create literacy and further education and also promote a professional base for the local's businesses. Currently, Made Africa is also situated in Nairobi.
